The destinations in Malaysia were interesting but the tour did not feel well balanced. Too much time in the vehicle and some hotels were quite basic for the price. The guide was polite but sometimes gave very little information during visits. Langkawi beach was beautiful but the overall experience did not feel worth the cost.
I booked this tour because the itinerary looked very attractive on the website, but unfortunately the experience did not fully match the expectations. Western Malaysia itself is beautiful and interesting but several parts of the tour felt poorly organized. The travel days between cities were longer than I expected and sometimes we spent many hours in the vehicle. I understand the destinations are far apart but the schedule could have been planned better. The hotel quality was inconsistent. Some hotels were decent but one of the rooms in Penang had a strange smell and the air conditioning was noisy during the night. Breakfasts were simple and almost the same every day which became boring after a few days. I also expected more explanation from the guide at historical sites like Malacca and George Town. Sometimes we were just dropped off and told to explore on our own. Transportation was generally safe but the vehicle could have been cleaner and more comfortable for long drives. The visit to Cameron Highlands was beautiful but the stop felt short and rushed. Langkawi island was nice but by the time we arrived we were already tired from the previous travel days. Overall the destinations were great but the organization and pacing of the tour could definitely improve.
