Desert and Wadi Bani Khalid Tour from Sur

The driver was funny!

I was honestly disappointed with this tour. The places themselves Wadi Bani Khalid, Wahiba Sands, and Al Saleel are beautiful, but the organization wasn’t great. We started late from Sur, which made the day feel rushed. At Wadi Bani Khalid we didn’t have as much swim time as expected, and in Wahiba Sands there was confusion about the optional activities like camel riding. The driver was polite but didn’t explain much unless we asked. For the price, I expected smoother coordination and clearer communication about what was included. Oman is stunning, but this particular experience didn’t fully meet my expectations.

A beautiful and memorable experience from Sur. The landscapes are truly diverse — turquoise water, golden dunes, and quiet acacia forests all in one day. Our guide was kind and drove safely, but I would have appreciated a bit more storytelling about local history, especially during the Al Saleel National Park stop. Wildlife sightings depend on luck, and we only saw a few gazelles from a distance. That said, the comfort of the vehicle, flexible timing, and peaceful desert views made it a very enjoyable day. A few small improvements would make it perfect, but overall a great tour and worth doing.

This day trip from Sur turned out to be one of the highlights of my visit to Oman. The combination of Wadi Bani Khalid, Wahiba Sands, and Al Saleel National Park in a single route is really special because you experience completely different landscapes in just one day. The oasis at Wadi Bani Khalid was beautiful with clear turquoise water and palm trees surrounding the pools. Swimming there was very refreshing after the drive and the scenery was perfect for photos. After the wadi we continued toward Wahiba Sands and the desert scenery was incredible. The dunes seemed endless and the colors of the sand changed with the sunlight. Our driver stopped at several viewpoints so we could take photos and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the desert. Later we drove through Al Saleel National Park which felt peaceful and natural. We even spotted a few gazelles in the distance which was a nice surprise. The driver was friendly and shared interesting information about Oman, local villages, and desert life. The itinerary felt relaxed and flexible which made the whole experience enjoyable. The only small complaint was about the car. It was air conditioned and safe but it felt a little older than I expected and the seats were not the most comfortable for the longer parts of the drive. It did not ruin the trip but a newer vehicle would make the journey even better. Overall this tour is a fantastic way to see different sides of Oman in one day. If you are staying in Sur and want nature, desert landscapes, and authentic scenery, this trip is definitely worth it.

Very well-designed tour overall. I loved how we moved from oasis to desert to wildlife reserve without feeling too rushed. Wadi Bani Khalid was definitely the highlight for me swimming in natural pools surrounded by mountains was unforgettable. The only small issue was that snacks were quite basic, and we had to ask twice for extra water. Also, camel riding and dune bashing cost extra, which we didn’t fully realize at booking. It would help to make the inclusions clearer. Still, the scenery and overall experience were fantastic. I would recommend it, just with better clarification on optional add-ons.

Wahiba Sands was magical. We added the camel ride and it was worth it. The peaceful nature drive in Al Saleel National Park was a beautiful way to finish the day. Everything was smooth, flexible, and authentic. If you want to see Oman’s contrasts in one day, this is the tour to book.

Absolutely incredible day! The combination of Wadi Bani Khalid, Wahiba Sands, and Al Saleel National Park in one route is genius. Swimming in the turquoise pools was refreshing and peaceful, and the dunes were breathtaking especially in the late afternoon light. Our driver-guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible with timing. We never felt rushed and could adjust stops based on what we enjoyed most. It truly felt like an Oman highlights” day. Perfect for couples and photographers. Highly recommend!

El tour fue una gran decepción. La guía no estaba bien informada y parecía desinteresada. El almuerzo era básico y no había suficiente agua para todos. Además, la caminata en Wadi Bani Khalid fue demasiado larga y agotadora. No lo recomendaría para personas con poca condición física.

Не понравилось. Экскурсия была плохо организована, и гид не знал достаточно информации. Путешествие было утомительным, а транспорт неудобным. Вади Бани Халид был переполнен туристами, а обед был простой. Не оправдало ожиданий.

Un'esperienza straordinaria! Ogni tappa del tour era affascinante, e la guida ci ha raccontato storie interessanti su ogni luogo. Wadi Bani Khalid è stato il mio preferito, con le sue acque limpide e la vegetazione lussureggiante. Il deserto era spettacolare, specialmente al tramonto. Un'escursione da non perdere!

Cette excursion était incroyable! J'ai adoré chaque étape, de la visite du château historique à la balade en chameau dans les dunes de Sharqiyah. Wadi Bani Khalid est un véritable joyau, et nager dans les piscines naturelles était un rêve. Notre guide était très compétent et sympathique. Je recommande vivement cette aventure

Der Ausflug war insgesamt gut, aber nicht spektakulär. Die Orte waren schön, besonders Wadi Bani Khalid, aber der Reiseleiter war nur durchschnittlich. Die Fahrt im Auto war lang und nicht sehr bequem. Für den Preis hätte ich mir etwas mehr erwartet.

Franchement décevant. Le guide ne semblait pas bien connaître les lieux et ne parlait pas bien français. Le transport n'était pas confortable et la climatisation ne fonctionnait pas bien. Les endroits visités étaient jolis, mais rien de spécial. Ce n'était pas à la hauteur de mes attentes.

Dieser Tagesausflug war fantastisch! Besonders beeindruckend war der Besuch in Wadi Bani Khalid, wo wir in den natürlichen Pools schwimmen konnten. Die Dünen von Sharqiyah bei Sonnenuntergang waren magisch, und das Abendessen unter dem Sternenhimmel war unvergesslich. Sehr gut organisiert und unsere Führerin war ausgezeichnet.

Il tour era bello, ma non così eccezionale come mi aspettavo. Wadi Bani Khalid era affollato e il deserto era bello, ma troppo breve. La guida era gentile, ma non molto informata. Nel complesso, è stato un buon modo per vedere alcuni dei punti salienti, ma niente di più.

Not worth the money. The tour was poorly organized, and the guide was not engaging. The desert part was okay, but the rest was boring. Wadi Bani Khalid was overcrowded, and we couldn't enjoy it. The vehicle was uncomfortable for such a long trip. Disappointing overall.
